Trust Harmonix – The GSTT Staff Community Choir

From Mon-09-Sep 6pm to Mon-16-Dec 8pm

Trust Harmonix – the GSTT Staff Community Choir…

Do you work, study or volunteer at Guy’s, St Thomas’ or Evelina London hospitals or in GSTT Community Services? Do you enjoy singing? Do you want to improve your health and well-being whilst having fun with your colleagues? If the answer is yes then come and join Trust Harmonix!

In January 2019 Trust Harmonix celebrated it’s second anniversary and we’ve come a long way since that humble start in 2017, including performances in Greenwich Theatre, London’s Southbank Centre Chorus Festival, The Brunel Museum and the prestigious St John’s, Smith Square as well as singing on our home turf for our colleagues & patients in Guys & St Thomas’s. We have also been honoured to share the stage with some amazing vocal ensembles too – The Mike King Collective, MyCool Singers and the Borough Market Choir. But don’t be nervous – come and join the party! Find out what your colleagues are already discovering – that singing can give you a health boost. Community singing has proven health benefits that staff can really benefit from whilst enjoying themselves together.

Why singing?

  • Combats stress
  • Encourages team building
  • Aids concentration and memory
  • Develops healthier breathing patterns
  • Helps regulate heart beat & blood pressure
  • Releases Endorphins making you feel happy

Whether you are a seasoned singer or merely enjoy singing in the shower, the staff choir can be for you. There are no auditions, it’s still free to attend and you don’t need to be able to read music – simply come along and experience the joy singing can bring. The sessions are organised by Breathe Arts Health Research and led by Mike King one of the UKs most successful choir leaders. So long as you work somewhere across the Trust you are welcome (including some Kings Health Partners). Our members are a true cross section of the Trust too – from administrators and support staff to doctors, nurses, technicians, students, therapists and volunteers.

Our 2019 Autumn term rehearsal sessions will run from 6pm-8pm (with some exceptions) in Central Hall at St Thomas’s Hospital on the following dates:

SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER:
During September and October we will have a guest Music Director leading the sessions. Rosie Dow (who has led many choirs and singing groups across the UK and is currently the Interim Managing Director at Breathe) will take up the reigns whilst our regular MD Mike King is taking a break. These sessions will end slightly earlier running from 6-7.30pm.

SEPTEMBER: 9th & 23rd

OCTOBER: 14th & 28th

NOVEMBER: 11th  &  18th  &   25th

DECEMBER: 16th

Simply turn up, or better still email info@breatheahr.org to let us know you’d like to come and we can send you all the information you need.

We schedule performances regularly throughout the year – so even if you don’t want to join in the singing you can still come and support your colleagues and enjoy a great show!

Remember anyone can join whatever their level and we are particularly keen to expand our male voices section.
