At Breathe we pride ourselves on being agile and creative; global pandemics are no exception. Over the past few months, where our funding has allowed, we have been busy responding to the mental and physical health challenges which have arisen out of COVID-19.

Made possible by the support and flexibility from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, we have adapted some of our existing programmes to be delivered digitally and developed brand new programmes for staff and patients from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, responding to COVID.

Breathe Sing, is a singing group, now meeting online, designed to improve lung health and reduce isolation for those with respiratory conditions. Given unprecedented demand we are setting up a second group.

Breathe Harmony, is our now online choir for NHS staff, to improve wellbeing/reduce stress, which recently received global press for our COVID charity single.

We are now delivering Breathe Dance for Staff Wellbeing, a new weekly online class for NHS staff to stretch and release tension.

We recently released Wellbeing Playlists, specially commissioned music to help NHS staff recharge and unwind and have been offering online Breathing Spaces, inviting people to take a moment to enjoy a short performance to relax and revitalise.

Whilst we have been able to deliver some of our programmes, others remain on hold as the associated funding is reliant on in-person delivery. This includes our innovative Melodies for Mums and Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy programmes.

Breathe has been hit hard, financially, by COVID and if you or your company would like to support our recovery you can donate or get in touch to discuss further.

Don’t forget to have your own creative moment by taking time out for a Breathing Spaces performance on our social media, listening to our Wellbeing Playlists and by signing up to our newsletter.
