Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme: Half Term Taster Screening Workshop - Breathe

Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme: Half Term Taster Screening Workshop

Thu 9 Oct

This autumn half term, we’re delighted to be offering a taster screening workshop for young people with hemiplegia (aged 6-18) to experience our Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme, a unique programme that turns occupational therapy into something magical. With only 6 spaces available, don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

About the Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme (BMITP)

BMITP is an evidence-based, upper limb bimanual intensive and goal-oriented therapy programme, that delivers over 60 hours of intensive therapy that incorporates the art of magic to provide therapy in a fun and supportive group setting. With one-to-one support for each young person, this group intervention is tailored to suit each young person’s particular strengths, needs and goals.

By learning high-quality magic and performance skills in a fun & nurturing environment, young people will:

  • Increase their independence in self-care skills and other personal goals that they highlight.
  • Improve their psychosocial wellbeing by building confidence, self-esteem and a can-do attitude.
  • Develop the skills to participate in two-handed daily activities with increased independence.
  • Meet and connect with other young people with hemiplegia and build peer support networks.

Archie has made the most incredible achievements, and in the last 5 days since we have been home he is like a different child who is able to do things we never thought would be possible, he is getting himself dressed and able to do so many things independently and he met all of his goals of tying his laces, opening his packets, and doing zips alongside so much magic and fun. We are so grateful [via the Breathe Magic Bursary] for the accommodation support and to Sea Containers London for looking after us so well - thank you!

What To Expect from a Taster Workshop

Our BMITP Taster Workshop is a chance for young people and their families to enjoy a little of what this extraordinary programme has to offer, as well as each young person being screened in a non-clinical setting to determine if they clinically eligible to our 2026 summer programme, as well as seeing if the programme is the right therapy for the young person at this point in their lives.

What’s in store at the taster workshop?

  • Learn a magic trick! Learn a specially designed Breathe Magic trick and secret tips from real Magic Circle magicians.
  • See the magic in action – find out how our programme helps young people with hemiplegia grow in confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
  • Meet a real Young Magician (and their parent!) and hear their journey and lived-experience of the programme.
  • Got questions? Chat with our Joint Clinical Lead Occupational Therapists about anything clinical.
  • Wondering about funding? Our Programme Manager and fundraising team are here to help you explore options and bursaries for eligible young people.
Millie's experience at the Breathe Magic Camp has been transformative. She’s gained new friends, grown in confidence and self-belief, and feels a huge boost from her newfound ability to perform everyday tasks with both hands. This new independence brings her immense pride as she shows friends and family what she’s learned, and she finds great joy in practicing her new magic skills. The team’s unwavering dedication truly shines through in the progress of every child attending! As a parent, I felt immense dedication to the process of securing funds to enable Millie’s participation, and felt empowered by the possibility of these outcomes to research and seek out multiple sources of funding that extended beyond our GoFundMe page and our local efforts with family and friends. With each successful application we were reenergised to keep trying so Millie could have this amazing opportunity.
