Breathe Magic: The Young Magicians’ Reunion 2026

Tue 30 Jun

We were delighted to welcome previous Young Magicians and their families from across the UK and Ireland, for a joyful day of reconnection and celebration of our Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme.

Past participants from 2010 through to 2025, with some even bringing their own children to the event, joined us at the prestigious Magic Circle for our annual Breathe Magic Reunion – coming together to connect, share their experiences, and, of course, immerse themselves in the wonder of magic once again.

What is the Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme?

Our pioneering intervention incorporates specially designed magic tricks to provoke specific two-handed actions, performance and problem-solving skills, into an intensive bimanual and goal-oriented therapy programme for young people with hemiplegia.

Grounded in world-class medical research, this innovative approach gives young people access to over 60 hours of bimanual intensive therapy and transforms them into young magicians. Highly specialist occupational therapists work alongside Magic Circle magicians to provide therapy in a group setting with one-to-one support, delivering interventions tailored to suit each young person’s particular strengths and needs. Research shows that depending on initial abilities, between 75% and 92% of children who take part experience clinically significant improvements in hand function after the programme. But the impact goes beyond the physical – by learning high-quality magic and performance skills in a fun, safe environment, young people improve their pyschosocial skills such as building confidence, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.

I was excited for weeks and very happy when I saw my best Magic friend was coming. Learning the tricks was brilliant, I showed some people on the train and they all got involved. Saying hello to the Magic team and trainers that supported me, and seeing the magic show was amazing!

The Young Magicians’ Reunion is all about rekindling those feelings of accomplishment and community. The day provided a space to catch up, share stories, and strengthen support networks.

We were delighted to welcome the Disabled Leaders Network, who joined us to discuss the transition from school to higher education and beyond with families. Participants had the opportunity to learn from our Breathe Magicians, who provided encouragement, guidance, and plenty of laughter along the way. Whether perfecting their sleight-of-hand skills, exchanging ideas, or simply reminiscing about their time on the programme, it was a reminder that once you’re part of the Breathe Magic family, you’re always part of the magic.

The fun didn’t stop there! Everyone unleashed their creativity in an expressive drawing workshop led by Breathe Artist Liz Atkin before twisting, turning, and transforming balloons into brilliant creations with balloon-modelling expert David Crofts. There was creativity and colour around every corner!

No magical gathering would be complete without a show-stopping performance, and this year’s reunion did not disappoint… the afternoon’s spectacular theatre show featured brilliant Breathe Magician Jez Rose, who surprised and wowed us all, inspiring a sense of limitless possibility to close the day.

To everyone who attended, thank you for bringing your energy, enthusiasm, and passion. To our amazing Magic Mentors, Ambassadors, and Magicians – your support and dedication makes all of our work on Breathe Magic possible. And to those who support the programme in any way – your generosity helps ensure that more young people can experience the life-changing impact of magic.

Here’s to many more magical reunions in the future!

The whole day was a treat from start to finish, from meeting up with their magician buddies, to the way David, Richard and the Breathe team made everyone feel special, and the spectacular show at the end, I couldn't have asked for a better day.
