Double Your Impact This December with Breathe Arts Health Research

Thu 20 Nov

This December, your generosity can go twice as far, helping us reach the people who need the wellbeing benefits of our creative arts and health programmes the most.

We’re proud to be part of the Big Give Christmas Campaign from 2–9 December, raising vital funds to continue delivering our creative programmes for parents, young people, and NHS staff.

During the campaign week, every donation you make via our page on the Big Give website will be matched, pound for pound. That means £10 becomes £20, £50 becomes £100, instantly doubling your impact.

These funds are absolutely vital for Breathe. They keep our programmes accessible for the people who need them the most: new mothers and fathers experiencing postnatal depression, young people living with hemiplegia, and NHS staff in need of respite, connection, and community.

Our goal this year is to raise a total of £35,000! This means we need £17,500 in donations to unlock the full match funding. It’s ambitious, but achievable if we all come together.

Supporting Parents Through Song

In the early months of parenthood, when sleepless nights blur together, tears come easily, and your whole world revolves around a tiny new life, it can be hard to remember who you are.

That’s where Breathe Melodies for Mums and Melodies for Dads come in.

These free, research-based group singing programmes support parents’ emotional and mental wellbeing during one of life’s most vulnerable and transformative times.

£100 doubled to £200

Funds one parent’s full 10-week place on the programme

Through the simple yet powerful act of singing together, parents find connection, confidence, and calm, easing feelings of low mood, depression, and anxiety, while strengthening the precious bond between parent and child.

Grounded in clinical research and delivered in safe, nurturing and uplifting spaces, the sessions offer time to pause, breathe, and feel part of a community that understands.

Whether it’s a mother rediscovering her voice or a father finding new ways to bond through song, every melody is a step towards joy, belonging, and feeling like yourself again.

I felt like I was in my own world, and not in other people’s world; Breathe Melodies for Mums gave me the light to see that it’s not only me that felt this way and that you can remove yourself from the situation and feel happy and confident again

Building Confidence Through Magic

Through our award-winning Breathe Magic programme, therapy becomes something extraordinary, blending clinical expertise with the art of magic.

Working with Magicians from The Magic Circle and specialist Occupational Therapists, we help:

  • Children and young people with hemiplegia
  • Young people experiencing mental health challenges

Each specially designed magic trick strengthens hands, arms, and minds, developing fine motor skills, problem-solving, and performance confidence.

Beyond the physical movements, participants discover something even more powerful: belief in themselves. Moments of magic turn what once felt impossible into something extraordinary.

Magic Camp has definitely helped my mental stability. It's going to stick with me for the rest of my life. It inspired me to never give up. Magic camp taught me to be confident in myself and not care what anybody else thinks of me. I felt like I belonged somewhere for the first time in my life. I felt like I belonged with everybody. I felt happy.
Young Magician

A donation of £10, doubled to £20, pays for the Magic costume for a child or young person to wear for their Magic Show performance at the end of camp. This means they will look fantastic in the show, but more importantly it is all part of their therapy, using two hands to sew their waistcoat, two hands to decorate their magic hat and put their bow tie together.

A donation of £25, doubled to £50, pays the cost per hour of therapy for a child or young person attending Magic Camp, giving them the time and space to develop their hand/arm function whilst learning the art of magic.

A donation of £75, doubled to £150, pays for a Magic Trainer to attend training so they can support a young person for the duration of camp, giving them 1:1 support and guidance through their physiotherapy journey.

Bringing Harmony to the NHS

Our Breathe Harmony NHS Choir offers hospital staff a vital outlet for expression, connection, and joy. Each week, doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals come together in song, leaving behind the stress of busy wards to rediscover community, balance, and calm.

Amid the pressures of healthcare, these sessions create moments of relief, laughter, and togetherness. Building resilience and restoring wellbeing through music. For many, the choir is both an escape and a reminder that care works both ways.

Your support keeps this creative sanctuary alive for the people who care for us all.

Working in the NHS can be intense, emotional draining and I often experience burn out. Breathe Harmony has become my sanctuary, space to step away from the pressures of the day and reconnect through music. No matter how challenging my day has been, I leave rehearsals feeling lighter and recharged. Thanks to the gentle encouragement of our musical directors, I’ve found my voice again and rediscovered how powerful music can be for my mental wellbeing.
