Breathe are fortunate to have the support of some brilliant organisations and partners, including the wonderful Sea Containers London hotel. Sea Containers are longstanding supporters of Breathe, and we’re very proud and privileged to be one of their chosen charity partners.
It’s a perfect match as they embody lots of our key values! Including the provision of a high-quality service, a bespoke experience for each person that walks through their doors and a genuine care for their local community.
Over the years Sea Containers have supported Breathe and our participants in a huge number of ways. This includes offering complementary rooms to families attending our Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Camps, who might not otherwise be able to attend. Hotel staff have run their own sporting challenges to raise money for Breathe, they’ve hosted Breathe’s events, and they’ve made generous donations to help us further our impact. They’ve even shared Breathe’s work on the TV screens in every hotel room to spread the word about what we do!
It is no secret that the pandemic has been particularly hard on those working in the hospitality industry with many hotels and restaurants closing for over a year. Given this, we wanted to do what we could to support the Sea Containers staff get back on their feet as they re-opened and re-covered from the past year of disruption to their lives, work and routines.
In July, we had the privilege of offering Sea Containers staff the opportunity to take a moment out of their day to enjoy a ‘Breathing Space’. One of our brilliant musicians, Adrian Garratt, and our fantastic magician, Richard McDougall, roamed ‘behind the scenes’ at the hotel, offering staff a one-to-one pop-up performance of music or magic. This surprise experience brought joy, stress relief and excitement to staff where they least expected it! We popped up behind reception, in the laundry, on CCTV in the security office and amongst the pots and pans in the kitchen!
We were able to offer 80 direct exchanges with staff – adding a memorable moment of joy to their day!
