The Framework was developed for creative and cultural initiatives that aim to support people’s health and wellbeing, to help the sector to grow carefully and safely.
We’re proud to have inputted into this important work. Our Founder and Managing Director, Yvonne Farquharson was part of the Quality Framework Steering Group feeding into the development over the past year, sharing expertise and experience alongside many brilliant leaders in arts and health.
The Creative Health Quality Framework consists of a set of downloadable PDF resources, based around eight Creative Health Quality Principles, including being collaborative, person-centered, sustainable and safe – all principles that are at the heart of our work at Breathe.

Funded by Arts Council England, the Quality Framework was led by the Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance (CHWA), working with Creative Health Consultant Jane Willis, in collaboration with over 200 people, including creative and cultural practitioners, participants, health commissioners, and researchers.
Deborah Munt, non-Executive Director of Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance (CHWA), said:
“The Creative Health Quality Framework represents a mature, nuanced and flexible way for us to consider what quality is really made up of and how we can create the best possible offers and experiences, and the impacts that matter most. It gives us a practical process for developing shared responsibility – within partnership and across sectors – and an understanding about how we each need to contribute.”
