Angel was born prematurely at 24 weeks and suffered a brain haemorrhage at birth, which caused cerebral palsy and left-sided hemiplegia. Weighing just 790g and the size of a biro pen, she was on a life support machine and her chances of her survival were slim.

Eight years later Angel still has very complex medical needs, plus asthma and learning difficulties. However her mother Sumira can’t stress enough what a difference the Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Foundation programme has made to Angel’s life.

“This was a great chance for Angel. All I can say is WOW! What a difference it has made for her confidence. All the things able bodied people take for granted, like tying shoelaces or pulling up your own trousers, were a constant problem for her.” – Angel’s Mum, Samira

The Breathe Magic camp helped address a range of Angel’s specific therapy needs, from developing fine motor skills to improving social skills and interpersonal behaviour. Since taking part she can do magic tricks with both hands and the experience has made a real difference to her daily life.

Sumira was also pleased that the camp provided an opportunity for her to meet and exchange experiences with other parents in similar situations. She now finds she is even more able to relate to the challenges Angel faces every day:

“I think anything is possible whoever you are. Angel still has a long way to go, but it‘s amazing how well she has improved and to see my little girl looking happy.”
